Albert Einstein Autograph Note Signed, "A. Einstein." Business card of Albert Einstein, with ANS in German on verso, 2.75" x 1.75", n. p.; n.d. [circa 1919-1934]. Einstein wrote this note to Franz Oppenheimer (1864-1943), a German sociologist and political economist who taught sociology and political economy at Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany, introducing him to a Dr. Zarek. The note reads (English translation): "Honored Herr Dr. Oppenheimer: I permit myself the honor of recommending Herr Dr. Zarek highly. He has an unusually clear head and possesses also a full understanding of political economy. Prof. Oppenheimer at Frankfurt. With Friendly Greeting, Yours, A. Einstein" Albert Einstein (1879 -1955) was a German-born theoretical physicist, widely acknowledged to be one of the greatest physicists of all time. Einstein is known widely for developing the theory of relativity, but he also made important contributions to the development of the theory of quantum mechanics. Relativity and quantum mechanics are together the two pillars of modern physics. His mass-energy formula E=mc 2, which arises from relativity theory, has been dubbed "the world's most famous equation". He received the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics. His intellectual achievements and originality resulted in "Einstein" becoming synonymous with "genius." The business card with note is accompanied by an English translation and other biographical materials, which mistakenly claims that this note was addressed to J. Robert Oppenheimer. Condition: The business card is lightly toned with dried adhesive residue on verso indicating prior mounting; otherwise good. HID03101062020 © 2020 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
