Ulysses S. Grant Letter Signed. One page, 8.25" x 11"; New York; April 15, 1882. A letter on Mexican Southern Railroad Company letterhead addressed to W. L. De Beck declining an invitation to attend a meeting of the Executive Board of the National Forestry Congress. Grant was serving as President of the Mexican Southern Railroad Company at the time he signed this letter. Condition: Flattened folds, toning throughout, a bit darker at the folds. Light soiling and wrinkling. A few annotations in pencil on verso, with a rust stain from a paper clip at top margin on verso. Tiny tear at center horizontal fold at left margin.
