Alpheus S. Williams Document Signed. One page, 7.75" x 12.5", Near Washington, D.C.; June 6, 1865. General Orders no. 8. A Farewell Address. It reads in part: "The time having arrived when this Division is to be broken up and the troops composing it to be separated…the Brt. Maj. Genl. Commdg: embraces the occasion to thank both Officers and men for their long, gallant and meritorious Services to the Republic…To recite your services would be to repeat the History of the War. Let the recollections of the labor, exposures and dangers you have undergone, the memorable battles you have had a share in…and active incentives to lives of future usefulness and of patriotic devotion to your Country’s honor."
