Late Ming Dynasty The deity seated atop an elephant on a double-lotus pedestal, the hands in varada and abhaya mudras as they hold the ends of lotus stems that rise to the shoulders where they support a scroll and a book, wearing long robes open to expose the bare chest and elaborate jewellery, the face with a meditative expression, the hair gathered in a high chignon surrounded by a foliate tiara. 27cm (10 5/8in) high.
