箱体由黄花梨木制成，表面满雕缠枝花卉纹样，寓意富贵长寿，箱体分成两部分，上部与箱盖十分吻合，下部的两部均向内凹，长方形铜面叶，锁形搭扣。箱子四角由白铜包边。此类木箱轻巧灵便，多放在官轿之中，凸出的两端多搭在轿杆儿上。箱子上半部较长，可以放纸张或卷轴之类，下半部较短，可以放官印或毛笔应用之物，十分便捷。箱内中段全空，两边有侧室，翻开盖板露出隐蔽空间，是存放贵重小件的理想之处。
