Embroidered fan case: Qing dynasty The first a black ground folding fan case, finely embroidered on both sides in Peking knot-stitches with large blossoms and svastika symbols enclosed by 'T' pattern, all below a large ruyi head (losses to silk); the second a Japanese damascene hinged gilt metal cigarette case elaborately decorated with a pagoda and a palace compound to the forefront, and Mt. Fuji soaring in the background, the reverse decorated with Mt. Fuji and a dragon; the last a boxwood carving of a squatting boy holding a covered box, now attached to a tasseled and knotted cord as a necklace. 11in (28cm) length of folding fan case (3).
