A Chinese blue and white general jar dating from the early 19th century. The body features four scenes of children playing; two of the scenes are framed within ruyi-shaped frames, and two of the scenes are framed within trapezoidal frames. All scenes are set against a ground of lotus and vine tracery bordered by a band of Greek key meander around the rim. The lid features similar tracery and meander with a flower on the finial. There is a 4-character mark on the bottom. The jar comes with a certificate of antiquity from the Hong Kong Art Craft Merchants Association. Dimensions are: 17 inches tall X 10 1/2 inches wide, 43.2 cm X 26.7 cm. All measurements are approximate. Condition: There are several areas of repair to the lid. There is a star crack to the body of the jar and a firing crack on the rim.
