字紫雲，號稱“江南壺怪”，江蘇鹽城人，師從國畫大師唐雲，當代工藝美術大師、上海壺藝大師，中國美術家協會會員、中國工筆劃學會會員、中國畫院專職畫家。許四海受清代陳曼生、楊彭年等人作品影響，與唐雲、謝稚柳、程十發、胡問遂等書畫家合作，將壺藝與書、畫、篆等藝術糅合起來，製作了許多書畫壺。與中國臺灣李奇茂教授合作“秦權壺”，上有韓天衡題“珠聯璧合”四字，此壺被顧景舟編選入《宜興紫砂珍賞》一書。
