A Chinese mottled sancai vase with double dragon handles dating from the Tang dynasty. Dimensions are: 15 1/2 inches tall X 7 1/2 inches wide, 39.4 cm X 19.1 cm. All measurements are approximate. High resolution images can be found here Condition: There is a big crack to the body as well as significant repairs to one handle. There is a chip to the rim. Provenance: From Mrs. Williams in Mills Valley, California; the piece is a family heirloom. Reference: The Metropolitan Museum of New York has in its collection two sancai-glazed amphoras, accession number 65.82.1 and 1984.483.3.
