A pair of Chinese famille rose vases with deer head handles dating from the Republic period. It features peach-shaped roundels of scenes of mystical figures surrounded by gold floral tracery on a coral ground. There is a 6-character mark on the bottom. Dimensions are: 13 1/4 inches tall X 10 1/2 inches wide, 33.7 cm X 26.7 cm. All measurements are approximate. High resolution images can be found here Condition: There are a few glaze pops to the rims. There is a repair to one of the deer's antlers. Provenance: The bottom of one vase has a sticker from The Jade Dragon in Ann Arbor, Michigan. From the estate of a surgeon in the Washington, D.C. area. The items were acquired from various auction houses including Christie's and Sotheby's prior to the 1990s.
