A Chinese blue-glazed ginger jar with a lid dating from the late 19th century. It features gold-painted decorations to the body and lid depicting scenes of flowers and butterflies, with bats and shou medallions on the shoulder. Dimensions are: 13 1/2 inches tall X 8 inches wide, 34.3 cm X 20.3 cm. All measurements are approximate. High resolution images can be found here Condition: There is glaze chip to the finial and wear to the paint. Provenance: From the estate of a surgeon in the Washington, D.C. area. The items were acquired from various auction houses including Christie's and Sotheby's prior to the 1990s.
