Provenance: From the estate of Mr. and Mrs. Hwang in Orange County, California. Mr. Hwang's father was an official in the Nationalist government in Taiwan, while his mother, Yao Xiuyu, was a student of Huang Junbi. She also studied painting and calligraphy with notable artists in Taiwan such as Lin Yushan and Chen Ruigen and was herself an accomplished artist.
