A Chinese watercolor and ink painting on paper attributed to Qi Baishi of birds beneath a berry bush. The painting has an inscription, 1 seal, and is mounted on a paper backing. Dimensions are: 26 inches tall X 12 3/4 inches wide, 66 cm X 32.4 cm. All measurements are approximate. High resolution images can be found here Condition: The painting has 2 severe tears and is in generally poor condition. Provenance: From a private collection in Northern Virginia. The collector is of Russian descent but was born in Harbin, China, in 1935. Following the end of WWII, her family moved to Shanghai and stayed there until 1952 when they relocated to Hong Kong. These items were acquired during the family's time in Shanghai from private collections and art auctions. When the family moved to the US in the late 1950s, they brought their collection with them.
