Dimensions; 30-1/2" H x 19" W A rectangular Chinese reddish-brown stone plaque carved to the front panel in shallow relief depicted group of cranes within waterside landscape scenes. Displayed in elaborately carved hardwood, formed by two scrolled feet, from which rise vertical posts flanked on either side, open-work carved in auspicious motif above archaic patterned apron. The crane (he) is believed by the Chinese to live to a very old age and therefore is a symbol of longevity. The crane's white feathers also represent old age. A crane standing alone can represent success in becoming a high government official as seen on a charm at Pendant Charms.
