Large satsuma vase with koi decoration, Japan, around 1880 (Meiji). Bellied form with slightly indented neck. Circumferential polychrome enamel and gold decoration with swimming koi carp and sweeping ornamental depictions of water movement, water plants. The neck with drooping flowering branches and cloud band. Under the bottom a large mark in blue. Foot ring with old chip (inner ring, not visible from the outside), h. 66 cm.
