Plate from the wedding service of Princess Luise of Prussia, KPM Berlin, 1820s, brown imperial orb mark 1923-32, in the mirror camaieum painting in grisaille tones, standing figure of Aesculapius, etched gilding. Model Antique smooth with pearl rim, gilding tws. rubbed, Ø 24,5 cm Large parts of the extensive service, which Princess Luise of Prussia received in 1825 on the occasion of her marriage to Prince Frederick of the Netherlands, were auctioned in London in 1967. The service set new standards for royal trousseau: there were 50 couverts consisting of soup plates, three dinner plate sets and a dessert plate. Twelve of the 50 dessert plates were decorated with cameo motifs. Twenty-two other dessert plates were decorated with landscapes, and 16 others with floral and fruit paintings.
