50-100 AD. Roman. A gorgeous light brown terracotta oil lamp with a loop handle and snub spout. Oil the lamp’s disk bears a relief decoration of a stalking lion below a tree branch, framed by a corded border. Oil lamps like this one were one of the main means of lighting in the Roman world.
