1200-600 BC. European Iron and Bronze Age. An bronze sica sword with a characteristically curved, tapered blade and an integral handle terminating in a loop. A sica is a short sword which was developed by the Hallstatt culture but was eventually used by the Thracians, Dacians, and even the Romans. A sica sword, with its identifying curved blade can be seen on Trajan's column in the hands of the Dacian king Decebalus. Excellent condition.Size: L:492mm / W:42mm ; 295g; Provenance: Property of a professional London art expert; obtained from an old British collection formed in the 1970s.
