800-600 BC. Celtic Bronze Age. A rare, huge bronze chest/brooch plate comprising a circular disk with a double border of applied spheres arranged around a register of chevrons and spirals. This beautiful plate would have been a statement piece in the bronze age, as it would have displayed the immense wealth of its wearer in a society where coinage had not yet been invented.
