1100-1300 AD. Byzantine. A silver cross with scalloped arms and integral circular suspension loop. Greek lettering on each of the arms and in the centre of the cross may refer to saints or to the original owner of this pieces. The Cross, the principal symbol of Christianity, recalls the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ and the redeeming benefits of his Passion and death. The cross is thus a sign both of Christ himself and of the faith of Christians. Excellent condition; wearable.
