C. 600 BC, Bronze Age European. Openwork bronze sun pendant comprising a single large circle with raised decorative dots at regular intervals on the outer rim. The sun is commonly depicted in Bronze Age art and seems to have been a powerful symbol of fertility and the passage of time. However, the sun was not just a natural phenomenon but was often viewed as a god in many Bronze Age societies.
