1500-300 BC. Phoenician. A subtle restrung necklace of Phoenician spherical stone beads in various colours, some with incised decoration. The assemblage terminates in a large cylindrical pendant. The Phoenicians were a major maritime civilisation originally. based in the Eastern Mediterranean before spreading across the Eastern Mediterranean to found Rome's great rival, Carthage. Good, wearable condition; professionally restrung. Size: L:360mm / W:242mm ; 26.9g; Provenance: Property of a London gallery, previously in old British collection formed in the 1980s.
