An elaborate pair of gold earrings each comprising (from top to bottom): a faux woven hoops from which close atop a central rondel into which is set a round garnet which is surrounded by gold baubles and granulations to form a solar motif. Below the garnets hang a second geometrically organized decorative cluster comprising a pillar with three heavy gold baubles, tear drop garnets with a granulated frame, and a final multi-tiered bauble These beautiful items probably belonged to a Roman noblewoman. Excellent condition; Size: L:44mm / W:15mm ; 12.1g; Provenance: Property of a professional Ancient art and jewelry expert; previously with a London gallery; initially from a private British collection formed in the 1970s.
