1000 – 600 BC, Bronze Age. This thick and heavy bronze torc has a simple single strand design, with highly decorative recurved and coiled terminals. In the Bronze Age torcs were used not only as jewellery but also as ritual objects of high value, which allowed their owners to store wealth and easily display their status before the invention of coinage. As such torcs were important part of the Bronze Age cultures in both Europe and Asia.
