C. 1500-1700 AD. Post-medieval. A rare silver ring with a circular hoop and applied bezel in the form of a devilâ€™s head, with beaklike mouth, circular eyes, prominent nose and horns. Possibly owned by someone practicing witchcraft and used as a sign of devotion to the Devil. Very few of these survived due to the persecutions of the church. Excellent condition; wearable.Size: D: 19.31mm / US: 9 3/8 / UK: S1/2; 3.6g; Provenance: Property of a London gallery, previously in old British collection formed in the 1980s.
