A wood and inlaid-ceramic box Edo period (1615-1868) and Meiji era (1868-1912), 18th/19th century The rectangular wood box finished on the edges in black-lacquer sprinkled with hirame, the cover decorated with circular sunken panel with a bust of Daruma (Bodhidharma) in painted ceramic against a gold-leaf ground, sealed to the right of the figure Tenrokudo and Kenkoku kinsei (respectfully made by Kenkoku), the interior of the box decorated with lotus leaves in gold and silver hiramaki-e against a black-lacquer ground, the rims pewter 8 1/2 x 6 1/2 x 2in (21.6 x 16.5 x 5cm)
