KIM SON (Vietnam / Indochina, Active 20th Century)
Boat on the Mekong River and moored Sampans
Pair of oils on canvas designed as pendants
Both signed and dated "39", one at bottom right
Dimensions (each): 48.2 x 71.5 cm
Note: An artist who, although easily identifiable by his style and his work
from the serif, seems not to need to be referenced. He seems to have been very prolific
in the late 1930s, the period from which all the works
we have presented (seven to date) are dated. If his favourite subject
seems to have been, to the best of our knowledge, Halong Bay /
V?nh H? Long, we also note his attraction for pairs and
pendant designs (cf. lot 1111, our sale of 29/06/2019, in Nice).
In both cases we note the narrative aspect of these compositions and the play on
the contrasts: here, a moving boat in front of a moored
boat.
A PAIR OF SIGNED AND DATED 39 'MEKONG VIEWS' OIL ON CANVAS
