A FABRIC FOR A PRINCELY DRAGON ROBE, China, 18th/19th ct. Silk with woven patterns, lancée and brocaded in colored silk and gold threads. The garment shows the section for the front of the garment with three dragons between clouds above water, another dragon for the left sleeve and parts of the dragons for the back. Missing parts were completed with sections of the very same fabric. The design of the waves still strongly resembles fabrics of the 18th century, but the eyes of the dragons clearly indicate a dating in the Qianlong period or shortly after. - Provenance: From an old Bavarian private collection, assembled between 1971 and 1990 - Stained, slightly faded, minor damages due to age
