Long inscription by the artist, signed: "In the tenth month of the gengshen year of the Qianlong period (1740) painted in the Zhanyu Pavilion for the old friend Xiehui as a present, Dongzhuang caoyi Wang Yu" . Three seals of the artist: "Wang Yu zhi yin", "Dongzhuang nongyin" etc. One collector's seal - Provenance: Old and important European private collection - Wang Yu, style name Dongzhuang, was from Taicang in Jiangsu province. He studied landscape painting with Wang Yuanqi (1642-1715) and this painting shows clearly the influence of this famous master.
