A RARE CHINESE IMPERIAL BLUE AND WHITE 'DRAGON' DISH. Qing Dynasty, 18th Century. With rounded sides rising from a slightly tapered foot, the interior roundel painted in underglaze blue with a five-clawed dragon coiled around a flaming pearl among further flames and clouds, two horns to the front-facing head, the mouth open to reveal a fearsome set of teeth, within a double circle, a further double circle banding the rim, the exterior similarly decorated with two further five clawed dragons each chasing the other's tail and separated by a flaming pearl, bordered to the top and bottom by narrow bands, the base unglazed, 34.5cm diameter.
