这枚黄寿山石呈自然形，色泽透亮，造型饱满，石质细腻，把玩可觉醇厚温润。作者依形就势，薄意雕刻“虎溪三笑”典故。相传东晋名僧慧远居东林寺时送客不过溪，一日陶渊明与道士陆修静来访，相语甚契，送别时不觉过溪，便闻虎哮，三人大笑而别。故事反映儒、释、道三家和谐相融，为历代名士所欣赏。作品布局疏密有致，刀法圆熟，画面苍松展翠、山岩嶙峋，人物细腻逼真，形神兼备，诠释古代文人向往的隐逸生活，其意可嘉。
