嘉定派竹刻。圆雕卧牛，四肢伏地，顾盼回首，一童子趴坐在卧牛脊上，另有一小兽嬉戏于卧牛身畔，与童子作亲昵状。童子与牛互相呼应，构图之巧，刻画之妙，令人回味。 卧牛尾鬃刻划精细，整体雕刻繁简得宜，匠意高超；卧牛凸睛阔口，双眼嵌饰，角弯如月；小兽身健骨清，造型奇特，耐人寻味，有点睛之妙；虽是小品，却刀法娴熟，刻技细腻。捕捉到牛之健硕和童子小兽的意态，寥寥数刀即得神韵，可见功力的高超。
