TURKMEN JEWELLERY SET Silver , gilding and Carnelian stones Turkmen, 19th century Set of three cuffs of various width, a pectoral amulet and two pendants of Turkmen Yomut tribe jewellery. The cuffs are called bilarzik and here with three to one rows of oval carnelian insets. The temple pendants are called adamlyk and could be attached to the hat to frame the face. The word 'tumar' refers to this type of pectoral pendant or amulet and is based on the principle of the rhombus which consists of three parts - the upper part; the tumar proper with the symbolic mountain motif and vertical west-east orientation; a middle part consisting of a bozbend tube with a horizontal west-east orientation and a lower part consisting of an inverted mountain motif from which silver, luminous world-spheres fall as pendants. The archaic detail in the motifs is magnificent.
