瓶直口长颈，溜肩垂腹，砂底，底有跳刀痕。通体施茄皮紫釉，釉色凝重深沉，造型端庄秀丽。茄皮紫釉，明代景德镇窑创烧，其以锰为主要着色剂，铁和钴起调色作用。《南窑笔记》记载：「铅粉、石末，入青料则成紫色」。紫釉亦称「茄皮紫」，根据呈色深浅又有淡茄、深茄之别。此件天球瓶为深茄色，造型古雅，贵气十足。
