Eight pieces of James & Ralph Clewes dishes and serving pieces, each depicting a scene from the 'Dr. Syntax' series. c. 1825. Including one platter, one square serving dish with raised sides and scalloped handles, and six plates. Embossedon underside with maker's mark and stamped with title of narrative depicted. Dr. Syntax was a satirical illustrated adventure created by Thomas Rowlandson in the early 19th century.
