EDME BOUCHARDON (PARIS 1698 – 1762) Study of an putto (recto); studies (verso) red chalk on paper 375 x 350 mm (14 1/2 x 13 3/4 in.) PROVENANCE: Private Collection, London; Sale, Christie's Paris 21st November 2007, lot 87 Edme Bouchardon was a French 18th-century sculptor. When the Salon was revived in 1737, Bouchardon exhibited his models as well as his famous red-chalk drawings. Both were highly sought after by his peers, including François Boucher.
