Howard Koslow (American, 1924 - 2016) "The Art of Picasso" Signed lower right. Original Acrylic painting on Canvasboard. Provenance: Collection of James A. Helzer (1946-2008), Founder of Unicover Corporation. This painting was originally published on the Fleetwood Mint Stamps of the World Collectors Panel for the Spain Art of Picasso stamps issued December 1, 1987. Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) was the most famous painter of the 1900's. In many ways, he was the artist most characteristic of this century, because he responded to changing conditions, moods and challenges so intensely and rapidly. He created about twenty thousand works in more than eighty years of his life, and these works were executed in a multiplicity of styles. Any effort to explain his work earned the contempt of Picasso. "Why does one love the night ... without trying to understand it? If only people would realize that an artist himself is only a trifling bit of the world ... and that no more importance should be attached to him than to plenty of other things which please us in the world, though we can't explain them. Everyone wants to understand art ... Why not try to understand the songs of a bird?" Image Size: 20.75 x 16.75 in. Overall Size: 26.25 x 22 in. Unframed. (B11168) See More
