Caroline Ransom Williams was a classical archaeologist, and the first American woman to be professionally trained as an Egyptologist. Williams was an assistant professor at Bryn Mawr College, PA, assistant curator of the Department of Egyptian Art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, honorary curator at the Toledo Museum of Art, lecturer in Egyptian art at the University of Michigan, and cataloguer of several major institutional collections including the Cleveland Museum of Art and the Minneapolis Institute of Art.
