An important early 19th century English porcelain cup and saucer, probably Coalport, decorated with the arms of Vice Admiral Horatio Nelson, Viscount Nelson of the Nile, KB, flanked by a sailor and a lion surmounted by a Viscount's coronet and two crests, the motor "Palmam qui Meruit ferat" below, the cup with the arms of Bronte surmounted by a coronet with oak leaf and acorn decoration to cup and border of saucer. Note: Provenance: Lyon & Turnbull, 29 September 2001 Lot 56. A similar example is in the British Museum, the decoration is possibly done in the workshop of Thomas Baxter for a vase with similar decoration, possibly by Baxter, see Bonham's Waterloo sale 2015 Lot 29, saucer 16cm diam
