A small and fine Satsuma sake ewer Meiji era (1868-1912), circa 1900 Set on three feet, with a recessed cover and painted in polychrome enamels and gilt on the upper surface with a profusion of flowers, the cover with a continuation of the decoration and with a chrysanthemum finial, the rim painted with an imitation drip glaze in gilt stipple on a light brown ground, the curved spout painted to match and signed in a reserve Sozan and on the underside in gilt Kyoto Awata Kinkozan tsukuru and with an original Kinkozan studio paper label, the handle of split bamboo wrapped with rattan 1 1/2in (3.8cm) high
