金士恒，清咸丰至光绪年间人。中国向日本教授宜兴紫砂陶“拍打镶接”技艺的是金士恒，他被日本誉为“陶业祖师”。善制日用陶罐、坛缸之类。后别具匠心，采用白泥制成似壶非壶、似坛非坛、形式怪僻、实用美观的"蛹壶"。后应邀至日本常滑，建作坊，传授紫砂技艺，被日本人奉为“陶业祖师”。
