五彩瓷器在康熙朝时出现高潮，施彩浓重，光泽透彻，又增加蓝、黑釉彩，使画面的表达更加丰富多样。拍品盘内绘五彩人物图“刘秀起兵”。画面右侧刘秀似裹云气而来，跨于牛背，持剑欲刺；左侧王莽兵士一败涂地，转身欲逃。人物逼真，表情生动，周围衬以颜色层叠变化的嶙峋山石与参差树木。用笔精巧细致，构图疏朗有致。
