砚屏是放在砚端以挡风尘的用具，形状如立于案头的小插屏，多为玉石、陶瓷、漆木等原料制成。其首创于宋代，多作观赏用。宋赵希鹄《洞天清禄集》载：“古无砚屏，或铭研，多镌于研之底与侧。自东坡、山谷始作砚屏，既勒铭于研，又刻于屏，以表而出之。”其后制作工艺更加严格，而且雕刻精湛，古意盎然，极富诗情画意。
拍品呈长方形，一面青花绘制蝶恋花，洞石骨瘦嶙峋，花卉掩映其中，蝴蝶闻香而来，翩翩飞舞。另一面青花绘制远山近水，苍松翠柏，楼阁隐映山石之中。此件双面青花瓷板绘工工整精湛，烧造难度极大，极为罕见，所用青花颜料色泽醇正，笔触细腻精致，线条舒展有力，气势磅礡。
