AN ANTIQUE REPUBLIC OF TEXAS DOCUMENT, SIGNED BY MIRABEAU B. LAMAR, PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF TEXAS, OCTOBER 2, 1841, hand inscribed ink on paper, "To: Col. Thomas William Ward, Commissioner of the General Land Office of Texas," signed, "Respectfully yours, Mirabeau B. Lamar." 9 3/4" x 15 3/4" Note: A letter written to Colonel Thomas William Ward, Commissioner of the General Land Office of Texas, requesting the appointment of a Committee to examine the accounts and records of work undertaken by Mr. James Hervey Raymond(1817-1897). The letter likely written in anticipation of President Mirabeau's appointing of Mr. Raymond as Chief Clerk of the House, which occurred shortly after this request was sent, in November of the same year.
