AN AMERICAN SILVERPLATED REVOLVING SUPPER SERVER, BY THEODORE B. STARR, SIGNED, CIRCA 1900 - 1924, in the Rococo Revival style with a four Bakelite handled rotating hot water warming stand fitted with removable serving wares, comprising a central large deep soup bowl with lid and ladle, enclosed by four lidded entree dishes alternating with two blue glass lined condiment bowls and two casters for salt and pepper, each with chased acanthine loop handles centered by a band of "C" scrolled acanthus leaves within matching rims, bordering sides with foliate engraved blank cartouches, verso each marked with a profile winged dragons clutching a circled S flanking "SILVER / ON / COPPER" mark, some with "HAND CHASED." Height: 19" Diameter: 28 1/2" Note: Thomas B. Starr (American silversmith 1837-1907) was one of the most important jewelers and silversmiths of New York City towards the end of the 19th century to the early 20th century. His work, retailed through his firm T.B. Starr & Co was often praised in the contemporary press and examples can be found today in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
