A LOUIS XV STYLE ORMOLU CARTEL CLOCK, BY DE LAFONTAINE, PARIS, LATE 19TH CENTURY,, after the original cartel clock by Jacques Caffieri (French 1678-1755) and centering a circular bronze and domed glass bezel opening to a white enamel dial signed "DE LAFONTAINE / Fabt des Bronzes / PARIS," with black Roman hour chapters and five-minute Arabic numerals, centering reticulated and engraved gilt metal hands over twin key escapements, verso an eight-day brass clock movement engraved "EM / 7162," stamped with a circular pastille "MEDAILLE DE BRONZE / S. Marti et Cie," suspending an Apollo sun mask pendulum, enclosed within a burnished and matt gilt beautifully cast serpentine case with stylized rocaille and dramatically modeled "C" scrolls, within sides of blossoming floral sprays mounts above a tapering base centering a shaped glass window revealing an Apollo sun mask pendulum, over a foliate cartouche engraved "J Caffieri," includes one winding key.
