TRAVEL SET,
Paris, ca. 1820.
Wood, cardboard and mirror glass. Rectangular box, all sides decorated with glued-on, printed paper, in green, black and gold. Hinged cover, in part lined with a mirror. The central reserve painted with a landscape and human figures, in gouache on paper. Opulent interior, with various, in part removable, compartments with mirrored lids. 5 glass flacons with lids, 3 powder compacts in porcelain, 2 powder puffs with gold ring. Also with a small brush, awl and trowel in red gold. The bottom with label, inscribed: Herbin & Cie à Paris. With dedicated business card of Mme de Tscharner de Morillon. Inscribed: "boite à parfum ayant été donné à ma Grandmère Madame de Watteville de Frisching en souvenir de Madame de Taleyrand ainsi qu'un bassin en porcelaine de Sèvre à son départ de Berne comme ambassadrice de France."
