此碟為六瓣葵花口，微外撇，淺腹薄胎，局部閃蛤蠣光。釉光滋潤具光澤，觸感滑潤。全器光素無紋，釉色含蓄。其形制與2011年紐約蘇富比拍品齊觀。全器雖簡雅，無冗綴飾，僅以瓣邊相稱，卻有一種特殊的質樸美感，更加突顯瓷匠巧藝。 定窯除以產白瓷馳名，也兼燒紫金、黑等各種明貴的顏色釉器。紫金釉亦稱醬釉，由於歷來少見，在明朝被視為稀世珍寶，是定窯中的名品。
