NOTE: Influenced by Japanese artworks, Florence Este's obituary in the New York Times called her "one of the best known women landscape painters". Studying for many years with Thomas Eakins in Philadelphia, she was one of 50 women (from 250 men) exhibiting 2 watercolors in the revolutionary 1913 Armory Show in New York.
