A Chinese ink on paper calligraphy by Shen Zhaonian and dedicated to Xian Zhou. It includes a signature, 2 seals, and is mounted on silk backing with a wooden dowel. Dimensions are: 39 inches tall X 13 inches wide; 99.1 cm tall X 33 cm wide. All measurements are approximate. Condition: It is in good condition. Provenance: From the estate of Ai Xian Zhou (1890-1955). Mr. Ai was a pioneer of higher education in China during the early 20th century, as well as a renowned psychologist. He was a professor of psychology and a dean of the College of Education at China Central University. He was also appointed to various leadership positions in the Department of Education in the Nationalist government of the 1930s and 1940s.
